So I always wanted one of these, and the price was definitely right!

Image

Yep it will be a project

Its been sitting in a barn for 35 years! Can you tell?
Image

It actually cranked! Check out where the key is on the dash.

Should be a fun project for sure.

Let me introduce you to Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. sSc_eek Everything electrical on is either broke now or will be soon. Nonetheless, Spitfires are very neat cars and were usually better drivers than the competing MGs. Do you know why the key is over there on the other side of the dash? Because most Spits were made as right-hand drive for Jolly Olde England. The key is in the right place for a RHD car - but Triumph didn't want to make a different dash for LHD, so here ya go... At least it looks to be a negative ground car - some were not - and those are a real pain. Nice project car - I see a new radio in its future for sure.

I'm sure Lewis has a big collection of cassette tapes he can use in that thing! At least it doesn't have an 8-track in it! (actually that would be cool)

Corey is like "what the heck is an 8-track?"

Congrats Lew, gonna be a fun thread to follow!

Let's see, 8 tracks. Think they came out in the late 60's? They were all the rage. There were eight "tracks." Right in the middle of the song they would switch tracks. Song would stop, then "click." Then they'd start singing again. You had to have a collection of different sized match books to keep them from dragging. You'd be listening to Barely White (the chicks dug him) and making out with your date, the damn thing would start dragging. Not conducive.

When it was just the boys we'd ride around and listen to "Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles Live!" WOT whilst partaking of the finest Mexican Brown, strawberry-flavored EZ WIders!! sFun_crazydance sFun_crazydance sFun_crazydance

The distortion was terrible, we were always blowing speakers. So you'd go to Radio Shack and buy two for $9.99.

Why listen to Barry White when you can have The King?

My sons 68 GTO still had the factory 8 track in it when he bought the car 5 years ago
It was mounted under the dash above the console

I tried to talk him in to leaving it in the car to no avail.....Tho I got to admit ....the juke box he replaced it with sounds a whole lot better then the old 8 tracks ever did
