At my daughter, son in law and grandkids house. My son in law had to take his long time partner and retiired working dog Rex and have him put to sleep. It was one of the hardest things he had to do. He got him when he was a year and a half as a partner till he was 10 then as a retired part of the family for 6 years. That's a long time for a working class dog.

Sorry to hear that. We had to put our dog Tucker down last year, it was the right thing to do but it was still very hard. He was 16 1/2 which is pretty good for a Lab. On his last day we showered him with love. One of "our" things was when I made pancakes I'd slip him a few small ones I made him... So on his last day I made him a whole batch that we shared together. Then later in the day I cooked up a big T-bone steak and we shared that. Rax will be waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

Thanks guys we all have been there. As for Rex he was a great partner to my son in law and a great protector to my daughter and grandkids. I also should add, he was the most decorated k9 in my son in laws department. The kids were told it would happen this week , but not the day. The kids found out once they got home from school. They all were born with Rex being around, except the oldest. Their going to miss him. I'm going to miss the old boy as well. It was comforting for my wife and me, knowing he was there looking after my daughter and the kids. No one would go near their house. Rex scared the hell out of everybody that caming closer then he liked. I remember one guy who tried to walk in their front door, with out knocking. I think he is still cleaning out his pants.

Sorry to hear this Walt. I can only imagine how lost your son is without his loyal companion.

Bill
