Well I've been looking at a new old truck  . My 96 Tahoe is about to give up the ghost. Its closing in on 300,00 miles. So I figures its time for another one, this time a pickum up :605_thumbs_up: . So I went around to a few dealers and looked at what they had. Well I asked this one dealer where the used trucks were. He gets this really dumb look on his face and says to me. Their all used here. I then give him that same dumb look and say to him, you can't tell by the prices you have on them. Hell I'm looking for a used truck not a dam mortgage :2261_high: . Well having to leave that lot in a little harry because I think I heard him say George get that dam shotgun sSc_help . I go to the next dealer. This time its a new car dealership that has used cars and trucks on the same lot. Well I go in looking for a truck I saw on their internet site. But Its not their, it's 35 mile up the road on another dealers lot. But I get talking to this really nice big and I mean big black guy who was just a good ole layed back country boy from right here on the shore :605_thumbs_up: . Easy to talk to. But as things go his manager steps in. Well me and him I could tell right off weren't going to hit it off :2261_high: . He asks the salesman I was talking to what I was looking for and the price range I was looking in. So this good guy tells him because I really didn't want to talk to this other guy. So the first thing he says is , man we just got that booty in just one hour ago. A 05 bright red 4x4 Dodge with a 6" lift kit. We haven't even had time to take off the old tags. I look at him and say with all that chrome and that bright red color and jack up as high as it is. I would look like a dam country pimp sSc_eek . Then he tells me the price he can put me on the road in that truck :1898_: . Then I look at him and say man didn't you hear the price range I was looking at. He says yea and that's right in the neighborhood. I look at him and say man you got to be from NY. Because you and me aren't from the same neighborhood. That's $5000 more then I want to pay. He says how can you tell I'm from NY. I look at him and say that dam NY accent. He says what accent. I say the one where you don't understand the difference $5000 more makes.

Bruce two reason. One budget, living on a fixed income limits how much I can put out each Mon. sSa_cry4 and two, hell I wouldn't live long enough to pay off a new one. sCo_hmmthink I did look at a few, and to get what I want would run $30,000 to $40,000. sSc_eek I'm looking full size extend cab, short bed (6') small v8 and 4x4. Now some are telling me a v6 will tow the 222ccp. But having owned one I don't think it will. Now the truth be told , for most of my around the county driving, I don't need a full size truck to haul my old butt around in. But towing boats and I still do some mountain trout fishing. And most of the streams I'm fishing, you have to get to on dirt roads where I don't even think of taking a two wheel drive. :605_thumbs_up:

I think they are using unobtainium in them Corey.

I went on the Ford website today and built a truck to the same specs and options as my current F250. Total price? $58,000! sSc_eek

Walt is used to Chevy's, me too. Have 230K on the '03 Tahoe...gonna run her 'till she dies.

Has to be a nice one out there to spec with 65K miles for a reasonable price.

Yep those diesels will run well over 500,000 miles before they wear out. I was looking at one, but the wife said, as quit as it is around here at nite. You start one of those and wake me up, as hard a time as I have falling to sleep. when you go fishin, and I'll blow that thing up. So I guess a diesel is out. But what's really bad is, I have to write down where I find trucks and which truck I was looking at. sCo_hmmthink When I was younger I could not only remember where they were, but the color age and hp of ever truck I looked at. sSc_eek Not now. sSa_cry4 Dam it's hell getting old. sAng_scream :1121_wink:

Walt I have been on this road a while... And when all is said and done, it is cheaper for me to FLY to Texas to buy a used 110k plus mirage diesel extended cab long bed then I can find one up here that that is already suffering from stage 2 cancer of the frame.....

I speced a F-250 for what I was looking for $68k and the GMC was in the same neighborhood.... They friggen eat caviar over there for sure....

Guys the one dealer showed me an f250 with a diesel. It was everything I wanted and for a diesel, it only had 125,000 miles. :605_thumbs_up: But I don't know who had it or what it was used for , but that poor truck not only looked like it was driven on the beach, but was driven into the ocean. Then taken to the mountains and used to pull trees out of the woods, over the worst dirt and Rocky roads around sSc_eek . Man I want to take my 12 gage down their and put that thing out of it misery. sSc_help the engine still sounded and run good, but the poor body and interior look worst then my body and interior sSc_eek . And that's saying something. I would liked to have seen her in her prime. I bet she was one sweet truck. :605_thumbs_up: That former owner should be hung up by his dangelers with shark hooks for treating it like he did. :2261_high: sSa_cry4

Yeah I see beautiful trucks that are beat to absolute hell and I wonder WTF people are thinking. Luckily rust is not much of an issue down here. I rinse the underside of my truck with salt away after every trip to the boat ramp. I plan on spending a $1,500 -$2000 or so in touch up paint and cosmetics repair and keep on driving my truck. I don't need a $900 car payment for 84 months!
