Well i appreciate everyone's help up to this point. But i need to take a couple of weeks off and get to work. I have to be able to pay for this rebuild somehow. I will be seeking guidance once again when i return in a couple of weeks from my trip out to sea. Unfortunately i will not have internet access where i will be.

Time for me to gout on this boat

Ceejkay... Coast guard right? If so then I can understand your feeling towards cape may!! I got boarded by the coast guard 2 days ago. They did a fishing vessel inspection to make sure I was in compliance. Now I am off the beach of Manasquan riding out this storm. Got 35-45 knot winds and 10-15 foot seas rolling in on us. Heading back out this afternoon!

Well i tackled the port side stringer this afternoon. Figured this side would be easier than the starboard side right now. I used a multi tool to cut it out. Not a whole lot of dust using this tool and was fairly easy. Now i just have to do some grinding on this side and clean it up and then onto the starboard side. There was a very small small amount of water. Other than that the foam was really dry which is a positive. Hope the starboard side is just as dry!!

Well i did some grinding where i removed the port side stringer. Let me know if i need to do more grinding or if i need to go back towards the stringer some more. I am so ready to get this transom in and feel like i am making progress. Instead of feeling like i am just taking this old girl apart!!!!

That looks pretty good to me. just make sure it flows so when you glass you dont get any air bubbles.

Well I got the starboard side stringer off today. Wasn't to hard to get off. I did have some wet foam at the end towards the transom. Up at the end of my cut was completely dry.

I did some more grinding to get ready for laying up some 1708 on the inside of the outer transom skin. I noticed I kept hitting air pockets as I was grinding. So now what do I do about this? Do I just lay thickened epoxy in the gaps around the wood and lay new glass over it? Or do I need to do something else?

Also if you notice where the hull meets the transom. There is like a notch or valley right by the drain hole. Do I need to grind that out more? Or not worry since thickened epoxy will go in there when I do my filets?
616
617

Also I put my transom template in there. Are the gaps to big around the edges? Or not worry since it will be filled with thickened epoxy with the filets?
