I am a retired UNC Professor who lives near Harkers Island NC now. I build or rebuild boats, do CCA conservation and fish a lot.

Recently just finished a 23 Potter hull seacraft and before that a Custom cold molded flats skiff that won Beaufort 2015 outboard division.

To keep me off the streets until I could decide on my next project, knocking out a 16 foot McKenzie drift boat for son who lives in Seattle.

Well, I stumbled upon several 222 boat with towers. Well I had to have one so have been looking for project hulls. I cannot decide which hull to get, so it looks like I will get one of each this week. I have a seacraft 20 sitting ready to redo, but I just love the lines of those aquasport 222 and they can support a small tower, which I need since I just sold my tower boat. Anybody want a 20 sc?

I want to thank those of you who have answered my questions and for posting such great info on your builds. I have my 23 seacraft build over at CSC, if anyone is interested. I see at least one member is from NC.

Welcome to the club Chris. As you can tell we love all boats on this site. we have some aquasports, some hydrasports and other things. By all means under the other boats section feel free to post your past builds. Personally ive always been a sucker for a potter hull. ive just never had the chance to build one.

For your question i would say a 222 mod v would be great. Although a flatback would be worth more when your finished with the build. A 222 ccp would be good for mostly offshore as they like some water under them. Keep us posted on your builds. Lots of good advise around here.

Well here is my 23 Potter rebuild.
We took it down to the bare hull and transom. No wood other than bling teak.

The 17 foot cold molded flats boat rebuild was on the ENVI site, but it seems they are having some trouble with their builds after a web change.

I will try and post some porn if I can upload.

Welcome to the site! Great to have another NC Aquasport owner here. Mark your calendar for the mid-October Aquasport reunion - it's usually around the Wilmington/Southport area - for some fishing, fun, and fellowship with other Aquasport owners. You will start seeing notifications and announcements later in 2017.

Those SeaCrafts were great boats - I know a guy who has one with a tower down in the Bahamas - still holding up well. I think Scott had one at some point as well. The 24 foot Aquasport Sea Hunter works great with a tower if you can find one.
