All you really need is one Sub-woofer and that can be anywhere. Don't trade out the speakers near the helm. Reason being you want to be able to hear the music while underway. You will not hear the aft speakers in the cockpit while underway. When I'm underway the speakers near the helm are pretty easy to hear. If you mount the head unit on the aft cabin wall by the sink your best bet is to use one of those surface mount enclosures. My Lowrance structure scan unit is mounted there.

As Scott said with the aft access panels off you can see all the way to the stern of the boat as you can sort of see here:

Thanks for the info. I was talking to a regular car stereo installer and he suggested that i trade out two speakers for subwoofers but he would have never known about not being able to hear the the stereo while underway. That's why I asked here. So I'm set on where to place all four speakers but what do you mean that it can go anywhere? Does that also mean in the cabin? I was thinking about a kicker but I want it mounted out of the way.

Bass is non directional so you can mount a sub anywhere. All it has to do is thump. That's why you see a single big bass woofer in the trunk of cars. So yes the sub can go in the cabin. Ps you don't want to mount anything in the fwd cabin wall. You don't want wet rope and anchor chain getting on the back of the speakers!

Hey fellas, finally had my stereo installed. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow. Anyway, when the stereo was first installed, I was losing two of the speakers when the amp was activated. Then I was losing the other two speakers and the subwoofer when the amp was deactivated. It was nice to have music but definitely not what i signed up for so, after contacting my 25 year old, tattooed everywhere, long haired expert, everything works. He even replaced my new (let's say, not expensive) subwoofer with a better one he had. So, I'm ready. I'll try to post the pics soon.

I'm looking forward to seeing some more pics. I'm trying to decide where to mount my speakers. T-top style like a wake boat, or in the console somewhere.

Yes, I'm sure I have pics. I'll try and load them tomorrow. For whatever reason, I'm not very good at loading pictures.

You can't see the two speakers mounted slightly forward of each helm seat on both sides. I would have posted pics but my boat is not at my house right now. Here's the rest of the setup:
