I like Polk Audio speakers, and have used them in my truck and motorcycle. The DB line is Marine certified such as the DB 651 which is the 6 inch model. They can be bought on Amazon for about 55 dollars a pair.

I used the speakers that came in the Poly Planar MR41 kit I bought. They sound good and the whole kit was 100 bucks. Guess I will see how long they last.

Well my stereo endeavors are on hold right now while I try to work out the kinks with the new boat. However, I have decided to not buy the Pyle stereo because I really haven't heard enough good comments from the people who've had them. Right now, I'll be using my portable "Block Rocker" and that will have to do for me for a while.

James, did you get the "can't get on plane" issue squared away? Yes, this is a derail...

Lol and i guess it is. Anyway, not yet. I was planning on taking her out again on Sunday but I'm now checking to see if she has a hydraulic steering leak. I'm hoping not but we'll see.

After pondering about the possibility of what might happen to me should I even THINK of de-railing a thread, or, even what may be possibly construed as a psuedo-derail, and, hence, all the internet penalties and shame that go along with said thought processes, I said...

WTF!!!

Hey fellas, I got an interesting story. I bought a Pyle stereo from a large company (anonymous for now) but quickly decided to return it and buy a better one. When I called to arrange to have it sent back, the rep tells me that they can't accept it back because it's classified as "Hazardous Material." Of course, I lost it a little because UPS brought the stereo to my house and I couldn't understand why UPS couldn't take it back. So we went back and forth and finally he told me that because I've been such a good customer, I was going to receive a "one time only" deal. The deal was they were refunding my money but they couldn't take the radio back. So, in essence, I have a brand new 4 speaker, Pyle marine stereo and yes it's getting mounted this week. All in all, a good day.

Ok fellas, my Pyle stereo that I bought from (or should I say was given to by) Amazon is probably being installed tomorrow. Me and the guy were looking trying to come up with a plan. He wants to place the head unit on or near the forward cabin wall--inside near the sink. I always assumed that all four speakers would be installed in the cockpit but he say no room. He wants to install two speakers on both sides near the helm and the other two on the aft wall in the cabin. I think the outside speakers are going to go where Scott has his. What do you guys think?

There should be plenty of room in the cockpit, I would put one in each wing and one on each side where the rod holders are, if you remove the aft wall in the cabin you can look straight through to the back and see all the room

Of course i mixed this up but he wants to put the head unit on the cabin's aft wall near the sink and two speakers at the bow near the anchor. The other two speakers he wants to place, possibly, where the two pie plates are located near the two storage boxes below the helm seats. My boat's at his shop or I would post a pic. My wife wasn't that excited about the cabin speakers either.

James, keep all 4 in the cockpit. EXACTLY like Scott said, the forward pair in the wings by the helm, the aft pair in the horizontal rod rack areas. Throw a small amp in the mix and that setup will sound sweet!!! sHa-shakeshout

Funny you should say "amp" Bob. Because... I'm back on track to have all four speakers mounted in the cockpit but.... I was thinking about installing an amp and trading the two forward speakers near the helm seats for two 8 inch subwoofers. Whatcha think? With an amp I could still install the other two speakers and I was thinking about maybe putting them in the cabin. I'm also concerned to know if I have the power to do this. If I'm going to do something like this, it's probably now. I've been working mad overtime and once it's done, I want it to be done. So as always, whatcha think???
