Thanks guys! She is in great shape and needs nothing cosmetically other that a little wax job. The boat had been sitting for 2 years with a full tank of gas. I have drained almost all of the 140 gallons out. I have been supplying my neighbors as well as myself with gas for vehicles. Burns fine in cars.

I have removed and cleaned the carbs. They did not appear to be dirty, but had a red oily film in them sSc_eek Not sure what that is. When I removed the inline fuel filter on the motor same thing. It was the color of red wine pouring out of the filter. I can't believe the motor ran as good as it did during the sea trial.

Once I have the old gas out, I will put in the new inline filter as well as a new racor filter. Going to put some fresh gas in her this weekend and hope to "fire her up"!

Sounds great JD! I remember the carbs were easy on mine... the darn fuel line manifold in between them was a pain with those six hoses. Here's a pic of my six carbs when I did them. Image

Oh and here is what my fuel looked like when I siphoned some out:

And this is what it looked like after being exposed to the air for a few minutes:

BTW we need more pics man!

Bruce, carbs were easy to do, but getting them back on was a pain with that fuel manifold you are referring to! I had to move it all around just to get the carbs to fit back on :1898_: Anyway, carbs should be good to go.

I want to decarb the motor to some extent but don't want to get into the portable tank with the seafoam mixture. Couldn't I just get the spray Seafoam and shoot it through the carbs throats while it is running? Wouldn't that pull it into the cylinders as well? I will run Seafoam through every tank like I did on the Yamaha. I never had any problems with carbon build up, plugs, etc.

Going to tackle the water pump this weekend. It might be fine but has been sitting for 2 years. Also going to replace the t-stats.

I will get pictures this weekend.

JD decarb is super easy on the motor. Go to your local BRP dealer and get a can of BRP aerosol motor tune decarb (I forget the name). Buy the hose kit that replaces the can nozzle and has a the schrader valve fitting on the end. remove the gray schrader valve cap on the primer solenoid and attach the hose there. Start the motor and follow the instructions on the can I think you may have to turn the red lever to on to allow the cleaner to flow. This will inject the cleaner into all six cylinders at the same time.

I agree, real easy to do. I think Worst Marine sells it in the Sierra brand if you're not close to a dealer.

Thanks guys! If I can get the last remaining old gas out of the tank, I hope to fire her up in the driveway this weekend. I might go ahead and run a can through the motor while it is running.

Finally got rid of the 140 gallons of bad gas and put 40 gallons of fresh gas in. I removed and cleaned all the carbs, replaced racor filter, and the filter in the motor. Cranked her up and she ran like a sewing machine sFun_crazydance

I did discover a bad fuel leak that was most likely present during the sea trial. I had a hose that had split where it connects to the fuel rail/manifold and it was leaking badly. I never touched this hose when I removed the carbs. Cut the bad section off and re-connected. Good to go now.

Getting ready to drop the lower unit and replace the water pump. With some luck and some decent weather, hope to put her in and run her this weekend.

Good deal JD!

That was probably why we were smelling gas when we ran her, and wouldn't rev up.
