Hello,

Coming over from Classic AS to get some more knowledge on a single to twin conversion. Have a 2000 25 Osprey with a blown engine- 3 weeks before the annual keys trip.... Live in NE FL and want the ability to run to the ledge and back more frequently and have my eyes set on twin 150 Suzuki's.

I understand the transom needs to be built up and a few other things to make this happen. Some questions I have and would be greatly appreciative of are below.

1. Once transom is built up can I mount 25 inch shafts?
2. Suzukis are said to be wide, any issue with mounting them 27 inches apart on the current transom?

Thanks for all of the help!

Zuke 150's aren't wide, they are inline 4's. Where you got that info, I don't know. Way, WAY narrower than any V6, about the same as a Yam 150 4S. And at 27" centers, you'll be fine. 25" shafts are what we used on all 225 and 245/250 Osprey twin installs.

All is good...

Did you get a quote on raising the dip in the transom?

Also I personally would take a long hard look at the Mercury 150 four stroke. Another member just repowered with one and it is very impressive.

I have a good running 225 Oceanpro I am selling off my Osprey for $1500. Would bolt right on in the interim as it would be very challenging to repower with twins in three weeks with the modifications necessary (unless you do that work yourself).

Details:
1997 225 OceanPro
New VRO (Professionally Installed)
New Trim/Tilt Pump (Professionally Installed)
2 year old Stator (Professionally Installed)
Flywheel refurbed (Professionally Installed)

Shop down here is derigging her today for a repower. I too went the route of considering twins but the cost to mod the transom, additional rigging and mainttence did not make up for upside. I chose a single 300. I have a perspective buyer for the looper so I would have to know quickly.

Ps. Have vids of the motor running if you had serious interest.

B

Thanks for all of the responses! Transom repair will be done by a close family friend which is saving us a penny. Boat will likely be bought in the shop in the next two weeks. Going to make the best out of the Keys with our 175 with a 115 Etec.
