Who wants to do a gathering around the end of this month or even at the beginning of July? There's a lot of nice sandbars and beaches to pull up to and all perfect places to swim. Lets have a vote on which bar or beach if anybody is in. sSig_tablet2

I would be in for sure Josh but I am moving late June and/or early July so I would depend on the weekend. As for the location down there I am not very familiar with the area but with my limited knowledge somewhere near Longboat Pass might be a good option. I would leave that up to the guys who know the local waters. How long (time) of a ride is it from Bean Point to Longboat Pass via the ICW?

I'd be up for one. Once again it depends on the weekend. I'm busy with fireworks tents. We would default to those with local knowledge on a location. Also the possibility of local ramps to launch from since I'm not opposed to towing down that way with the 170.

Bruce, the 3 main ramps that pretty much everyone uses are 10th St, just N of downtown on the trail, City Island, just past St. Armands when coming over to LBK from downtown, and Kingfish, at the W end of Manatee Ave bridge when going over to AMI. All 3 dump you right into the bay...

I could be down. If, I can get my boat fixed, and, if, I can get the weekend day off.

Thanks Bob, by that time I am hoping to have my boat stored over here near Tierra Verde where I am moving, if not, I will def trailer. Depending on the distance I am weighing the ride by water vs. trailering from Tierra Verde. I can get from the south end of the Skyway channel (parallel to 275) to the north end of the Manatee ICW in about 20 min on a smooth day so I am wondering how long it would take me to take the ICW all the way down to Longboat Pass from there. I have never taken that route b/f.. If it's like the Pinellas side its littered with no wake zones which really hamper the speed you can travel.

Looks like its approx 18 miles from the south end of the Skyway channel to Longboat pass via the gulf and appox. 12 via the ICW. Hmmm... sCo_hmmthink

Bruce B, you're only looking at the length of AMI down to LB pass. So figure around 15-20 minutes from the time you hit the N end of AMI IF going under the Manatee Ave bridge is still wide open (instead of no wake) like it used to be. Scott, Josh, chime in? No wake at Cortez Rd bridge, but that's a given...

Berger's water route kind of sounds like fun. Maybe a caraboatn!!!

I'm getting ready to just pull the lower right now, and then go over to SEI which is like right next to my house.

There is only one no wake zone, at the Cortez bridge and it's a short one, other then that it's all 25 mph or wide open down to the Ringling bridge in Sarasota, even with the weather last time, I made it back from Egmont to Newpass in 45 minutes, shave 15 minutes off that if the weather is good

I think some of the ankle-knee deep sandbars or shoals around new pass may be good, plus theirs some good fishing around there.

Especially if its a flat day it'd be fast to get there from the gulf.
