From what I have read, you pull the boat up to the cleaning dock on the way back in, drop them off, and pick them up the next day. And you're right, I was not as fast as you on cleaning them. But the time invested was the same.

And yep, it was fun....for the first couple hours.... sFun_eyescan

Scotty,

You drop them off at dock, have a couple of drinks at Macrae's bar (with docks) while listening to some live music, and pick them up 1-2 cold beer cocktails later. I wasn't at your shindig fellas, but I can understand why Scotty would want a little less cleaning/prepping/slinging scallop slime/shit that is a lot like work and a little more of the sitting back with George Dickel/gabbing gums/convincing old ladies that he is the mayor of Wilmington while inebriated/recreating activities in a nice rental house if he is flying down from North Cackalacy for vacation. We Tampa Bay boys do the scallop thing several times a year. It is an out of state ordeal for him. I sure don't want to do stuff that resembles work on vacation. Like the great patriot Patrick Henry once said, "Give me convenience or give me death".

Thank you for the eloquent reply Eugene my Son! And yes, full disclosure....Eugene is my Son.

I met his mother in 1981 on a business trip to Las Vegas. She was in the entertainment industry at a place outside of town known as the Chicken Ranch. Where the customer comes first. She was very nice to me. After all these years, I still have her photo. Oh, it was a magical evening!! sFun_crazydance

Here is Eugene's mom, Summer Dawn Son

It was a bit of a surprise that I was going to be a Dad, but I knew my Son was going to be something special. But what to name him? Initially I thought we should call him Scottys Son, but that didn't sound quite right. So we named him after my great-great-great uncle Eugene Stradivarius from the Old Country. Eugene became a General in the Continental Army under George Washington, and was awarded the first-ever Purple Heart at the Battle of Yorktown.

Here is a picture of our little bundle of joy in his pirate pajamas!!

Bob,

Traditionally, Koreans have a big first birthday party with rice cakes, candies and fruits stacked in elaborate patterns. There were a bunch of white folks at our kids' first birthday parties so Stacy made a chocolate and vanilla tower out of Oreo cookies instead of rice cakes for the cracker contingent. One neat thing that we do for the first birthday celebration is lay a coin (child will be wealthy), a pen (child will be scholarly), and a rice noodle (child will have long life) on the table. Whichever one the baby chooses is his/her fate in life. Now, in the golf obsessed nation, parents are changing a few thousand years of custom and tradition and placing a golf tee on the table as well.

Really the only 3 birthdays that Koreans actually celebrate are the 1st, 90th and 100th. Both of my grandmothers are getting really close to the third celebration. The rest are pretty much ignored. My kids were confused by my folks ignoring their birthdays. When I said something to my parents when they came to visit some months later, they took them to Target, let them each pick a toy and told them happy birthday, albeit 2 months after the fact. Hallmark obviously does not thrive in Korea.

LOL!! I guess not, Eugene! Thanks for explaining the cookie/rice cake assemblage. And seeing as how the Korean women are basically dominating the LPGA tour, I'd say the golf tee "tradition" was started about 25 years ago!

Although it is nice that friends and family acknowledge the fact that we were born on a certain day, as you and I both know, they aren't all they are cracked up to be. Just means you're getting older, and sometimes you'd rather not have people remind you of that! As opposed to when we a bit younger, and we'd get half (or fully!) shit-faced because that's what we were supposed to do! Woke up in the Delavan, Wisconsin police dept. the morning after my 20th b-day, in a cell...with the door wide open, and not a soul around. Oh shit, what'd I do? The chief finally comes in the door about 11 (small town on a lake, 3 man police force), smiles at me 'cause he knows I have no frickin clue what I'm doing there, says, "Well Bob, we found you last night sound asleep on the trunk of your car. Figured you'd be a bit more comfortable here. You can go now, have a nice day..." :1992_beer_cheer: :1992_beer_cheer:
